After the White Sox suffered a disappointing 10-10 tie with the Astros, Game seven saw the White Sox taking on the A's, who beat the Sox all five times the teams faced each other last year, including sweeping the World Series games.
As has been the trend this season, the White Sox jumped ahead early, scoring five in the first en route to an 18-3 win. The game saw the surprising early return of Richie Tate, who three weeks prior suffered a dislocated finger on his throwing game and missed two games in a row. Richie picked up right where he left off, going 4-5 with 4 RBI's, and in spite of the missed games, leads the team with 9 RBIs and is hitting .556. Lead off hitter Devon Ramsey notched his first 5 hit game, going 5-5 with 5 runs scored, and leads the team with 16 hits. Clean up hitter TJ Hernandez went 4-4, with 4 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Corey Pouliot pitched the first 6 innings, allowing 6 hits and 3 runs, and Jay Dyer came in to pitch the 7th and 8th, retiring all 6 batters he faced. The White Sox go into the Fourth of July Holiday break at 6-0-1, in first place, with a two game lead over the second place Diamondbacks.
